King Tempo 602 Cornet

Background info:

History:

This cornet was the second cornet that I got.  We traded in my dad's old oboe, because I was in need of a better cornet.  I decided on getting another cornet because I liked the way they look more and I was only 11.

The summer of 1999, when I was 14, I took that trusty cornet to summer camp for my position as CIT, and Camp Bugler.  Every Sunday evening through Saturday evening that cornet was marched up the hill and played "To the Colors" in the morning, and "Retreat", followed by "To the Colors" at the flag lowering.  Saturday nights after the lights went out on the campfire circle I would mellowly blow the haunting notes of "Taps", which after rolling off the hills of Camp Tuckahoe gave people the tingles.

The cornet served me at many concerts, camping trips, and summer camps, after that.  The most notable the YAAC Wizard Safari in the fall of 1999.

The next big solo performance for me on my trusty cornet was the Friends of Scouting Dinner in February of 2000.  There I played "Assembly" at the beginning of the dinner, and "Taps" at the end.
